Our Environments

A Natural Space to Explore, Connect, and Grow

At Victor Harbor Childcare and Education Centre, we place a strong emphasis on nature play, believing that the best learning happens when children are immersed in the world around them. Our outdoor learning environments are designed to inspire curiosity, independence, and a deep connection to nature.

Whether children are collecting leaves, making potions, digging, or cooking in our mud kitchens, they are engaging their senses, building resilience, and developing important physical and fine motor skills. These playful, hands-on experiences support Outcome 3 of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which promotes health, physical wellbeing, and emotional regulation.

Nature play also encourages environmental awareness. By caring for our gardens, learning about native plants and animals, and enjoying open-ended outdoor play, children begin to understand their role in looking after the natural world. This aligns with EYLF Outcome 2, fostering a sense of responsibility and respect for the environment.

Inside and outside our environments are thoughtfully planned to support each child’s individual learning journey. Our educators create engaging, meaningful experiences based on children’s interests, strengths, and developmental stages. Each child is supported as a unique learner, with opportunities for both individual exploration and collaborative group learning.

We’re proud to offer a learning environment where children feel safe and inspired to explore, connect, imagine, and thrive — while building the foundation for lifelong learning.
